Arrangements in care of the Lee Home, John Lipp and John Unser, Funeral Directors. TONGE-Mr. James Morley Tonge (1887 1987) passed away peacefully in Regina on Fridays February 27, 1987.

Born March 9, 1887, in Alma, Ontario; the only son of Reverend and Mrs. Abraham William Tonge, Methodist Minister. He shared a loving home with five sisters. In 1904, he answered the call of the West. First to Wascada, Manitoba; then on to Marshall, Saskatchewan, in 1905; where he home-' steaded until 1909.

He also maintained the railway from Lashburn to Lloydminster. In 1909, he moved to Griffin, Saskatchewan, until 1939. During these years, he was a drayman. His first wife was a postmistress until her death in 1939. was a mail carrier, and worked for the C.P.R.

as a section foreman of maintenance of way for 31 years. In 1943, he moved to Sintaluta, Saskatchewan; where he met and married Vera Gray. They lived in Grand Coulee and Pense. In 1952, he worked in Broadview on contracted work for the C.P.R.; then to Westlock, Alberta; working with the C.P.R. on the first machine: MANNIX that changed rails, ties, and repaired the roadbed, replacing manual labor.

When he came to Moose Jaw in 1953, he worked for the Churchill Hotel as night clerk until 1971. In his youth, he played hockey and was an avid curler. In his later years, he was an all-around armchair sportsman; enioying football, hockey, curling, and wrestling. Holidays and special occasions were always enjoyed at the lake, where he felt close to nature. He was a loving, faithful family man enjoying every moment of time he spent with many grandchildren.

They, in turn, loved and honored their grandfather. He was a favorite of everyone on both sides of the family. He was a member of the 1.0.0.F. of Weyburn Lodge and the Brotherhood of Maintenance of Way Employees Lodge He is survived by his wife, Vera; and their children: James (Betty) Tonge, Moose Jaw, Bonnie (Dennis) Williams, Moose Jaw, Daniel (Sandi) Tonge, Regina, Walton (Muriel) Tonge, Toronto, Noreen (Ken) West, Sarnia, Ontario; and seven grandsons: Murray and David Tonge, Ontario, Robert, Richard, and Reagan Tonge, Moose Jaw, Michael and Daryle Williams, Moose Jaw; and three granddaughters: Leslie Foster, Ontario, Elizabeth Edwards, Los Angeles, California, Denean Williams, Moose Jaw; and several great-grandchildren.
