I hope you're feeling happy now
I see you feel no pain at all, it seems
I wonder what you're doin' now
I wonder if you think of me at all
Do you still play the same moves now?
Or are those special moods for someone else?
I hope you're feeling happy now

Just because you feel good
Doesn't make you right, oh no
Just because you feel good
Still want you here tonight

Does laughter still discover you?
I see through all the smiles that look so right
Do you still have the same friends now
To smoke away your problems and your life?
Oh how do you remember me?
The one that made you laugh until you cried
I hope you're feeling happy now

Just because you feel good
Doesn't make you right, oh no
Just because you feel good
Still want you here tonight, want you

Oh, no
Just because you feel good
Doesn't make you right, oh no
Just because you feel good
Still want you here tonight, want you

Just because you feel good
Doesn't make you right, oh no
Just because you feel good
Still want you here tonight, want you

I wonder what you're doing now
I hope you're feeling happy now
I wonder what you're doing now
I hope you're feeling happy now

i don't think its as simple as hoping that an ex is happy...i think that the 'hope you're feeling happy now' is supposed to be sarcastic.

it's an angry song to sing to a former boyf/girlf who's hurt you when he/she should have thanked you for helping you when he/she felt so low...

I think it´s more sad than angry song - it´s about broken relationship, in which she was more emocionaly involved and now she´s feeling sad and embarassed for being the one, who loved more and that she is still not able to get over it ( I see you feel no pain at all it seems I wonder what you're doin' now I wonder if you think of me at all )And the fact she still feel bad and lonely, while he doesn´t seem to care and feel bad at all is wounding her even more. And she knows, that even after all she "still wants him here tonight" (un-cared for some dignaty or something), which is the saddest moment.

Am I the only one picking up a message about weed? "Do you still have the same friends now, to smoke away your problems and your life?" Makes a lot of sense and relates to "just because it feels good, doesn't make you right". And the title, Hedonism points in the same direction. This is a song about a relationship that went sour because of a boyfriend who smoked too much. To me anyway :)

i absolutly love this song... to me it means she has broken up with a loved one, and she hope he is e/she is happy now, though there is anger and hurt as she is not quite over the break up.i love it!!!!!

i can see where fading and ladyboygrrl are going, but i kinda miss the hedonism part in their explanations. skin tells about her ex-boy(/girl)friend: 'i see you feel no pain at all it seems", and 'does laughter still discover you', 'just because you feel good'. does she refer to the hedonistic way of life of het ex boy(/girl)friend?

also: 'how do you remember me? the one that made you laugh until you cried?' does she mean: did you only date my because you could have a good laugh with me or did i mean more to you?

to me lines like these sound as if she's critisising his superficial way of living. his life is all about having fun, but is there a place for true love and care? (hedonism = viewing the own pleasure as highest good)

'just because you feel good, does it make you right', makes perfectly sense...

Ave Grave Thee More Shallows So this has been.my favorite song of OTEP's since it came out in 2004, and I always thought it was a song about a child's narrative of suffering in an abusive Christian home. But now that I am revisiting the lyrics, I am seeing something totally new. This song could be gospel of John but from the perspective of Jesus. Jesus was NOT having a good time up to and during the crucifixion. Everyone in the known world at the time looked to him with fear, admiration or disgust and he was constantly being asked questions. He spoke in "verses, prophesies and curses". He had made an enemy of the state, and believed the world was increasingly wicked and fallen from grace, or that he was in the "mouth of madness".The spine of atlas is the structure that allows the titan to hold the world up. Jesus challenged the state and in doing so became a celebrated resistance figure. It also made him public enemy #1. All of this happened simply because he was doing his thing, not because of any agenda he had or strategy. And then he gets scourged (storm of thorns)There are some plot holes here but I think it's an interesting interpretation. The Spy Doors, The Like a lot of the other comments are saying, I think this mainly about voyeurism. If the song was about his girlfriend, then why would he use the word spy. If you are a spy it means you shouldn't be caught, that is kind of the whole point, and if you are a voyeur, the whole point of the pleasure you get from it, is the fact that the other people don't know you are watching them. See a bit of a connection there? Grand Theft Auto Insane Ian The way this song speaks to me🥺🥺when I sing it I feel like I relate Step Ministry Both as a standalone and as part of the DSOTS album, you can take this lyric as read. As a matter of public record, Jourgensen's drug intake was legendary even in the 1980s. By the late 90s, in his own words, he was grappling with massive addiction issues and had lost almost everything: friends, spouse, money and had nearly died more than once. "Dark Side of the Spoon" is a both funny & sad title for an album made by a musical genius who was losing the plot; Fortnight Taylor Swift The song 'Fortnight' by Taylor Swift and Post Malone tells a story about strong feelings, complicated relationships, and secret wishes. It talks about love, betrayal, and wanting someone who doesn't feel the same. The word 'fortnight' shows short-lived happiness and guilty pleasures, leading to sadness. It shows how messy relationships can be and the results of hiding emotions. “I was supposed to be sent away / But they forgot to come and get me,” she kickstarts the song in the first verse with lines suggesting an admission to a hospital for people with mental illnesses. She goes in the verse admitting her lover is the reason why she is like this. In the chorus, she sings about their time in love and reflects on how he has now settled with someone else. “I took the miracle move-on drug, the effects were temporary / And I love you, it’s ruining my life,” on the second verse she details her struggles to forget about him and the negative effects of her failure. “Thought of callin’ ya, but you won’t pick up / ‘Nother fortnight lost in America,” Post Malone sings in the outro.
