Since 2010, UConn has won 2 regionals in the 10 NCAA Tourneys that they have been in.
Especially when you are not the top seed in a regional, getting to the regional finals is a nice accomplishment. Also, in my mind the more your team makes the NCAA Tournament, I figure there is always a chance due to all the appearances that the team makes the tournament, that sooner or later that team might advance to the next level of competition. So in that way I am rather proud that UConn is in the finals of this regional, even though they lost last night.

Appears we are going to be the away team tonight.

Has UConn ever been the top seed in a regional? Winning one of these in another host school's ballpark with their fans is always quite a mountain to have to climb, especially against all those established southern power schools.

Can’t leave bases loaded twice and expect to win.

Especially this particular UConn team. They have already over-achieved (and certainly justified their selection).
Still, big game tonight. Too soon to talk about moral victories.

Folks here have any thoughts on what UConn's pitching might look like tonight? I'd guess Van Emmon will start with Sullivan and Afthim being obvious options. Should be a throw day for Cooke so maybe a couple innings there. Maybe even an inning out of Coe. Not sure anything can be asked from Quinn, Finnegan, or Cinnella tonight. Am I leaving anyone out?
No idea what OK might be throwing. They did have a guy come out of the pen yesterday to close against Duke that threw pretty hard. Didn't seem to have much in the way of off speed and Duke did eventually start to barrel him a bit.
From a lineup standpoint I'm guessing TC will be in for Studley...his ABs were rough yesterday.

No. When we hosted in 2010 it was as a strong 2 seed.

Some newbie people like you make this space intolerable at times
He's talking about the calls on many UConn pitches which were obvious strikes and called balls. Penders had a problem with many of the calls so I guess he is in the "lame" category also.
It's what happens when moms give their 12-year-olds in the basem*nt access to the wifi. They think they are internet heroes and keyboard geniuses when really all they are is sad little people.

Enough w/ the personal attacks… it hasn’t been a problem over multiple seasons until last night.
Oh - Please and thank you.

I think you’re looking at it right. Van Emmon and Sully have to get us to late game. Wouldn’t be surprised to see Cooke get an inning or two. I would think Cinnella ought to be able to come in for an inning, especially if the two lefties are still next to each other in the batting order. And we have to be willing to live or die with Afthim for two innings, as reluctant as we are to ask him to do that.
I can’t see benching Studley. Yes, he was beyond awful last night, but didn’t he have two hits the day before? One awful game doesn’t indicate a slump.

Misinterpreting what I said. I wasn't talking about moral victories, just the way I feel about things that I wrote about.
I pointed out that there was one more game to be played in this regional, so UConn still certainly has a chance to advance, even with them being the lower seed.

I'm inclined to think Studley will get the start tonight, but we'll see what happens.
Just hope that Studley doesn't catch the flu like illness that has been going around the team of late, Chris Jones has mentioned that illness during the game broadcasts. Garbowski was the last one to catch it, and he was able to start at catcher last night.

I am literally getting tired of these UConn games of late going past midnight. With another 9pm start for the game you have to expect it might happen again. Still, I intend to be up for the whole game tonight.

Now? We're in a Regional Game 7 on ESPN2 and NOW you're worried about getting tired?

I served two tours in the Central Time Zone of Oklahoma. The world does not revolve around the Eastern Time Zone, Boston and New York City notwithstanding.

I was responding with (what I thought was a related sentiment) and then responded to my own thought.
I apologize for any confusion and thank you for all you do to help us casuals follow UConn baseball from a distance.

I think it’s more about getting all the games started at times when if you want to watch them in their entirety, you wouldn’t have to do much channel flipping. Ah, who am I kidding it’s about ESPN maxing out the commercial time and making some cash.
