We measure what matters. Here’s to (cheers to!) the recognition that #impactinvesting is a “thing” that matters. It’s not niche, it’s not radical, it’s not anarchy. It’s fundamental to a more equitable, inclusive, healthy economy that serves all - people, place, and planet. I look forward to the years ahead as we grow the field of skilled practitioners of #impact and lawyers, law firms, law departments seek to be named as such in Chambers and Partners and many other spaces of recognition. Want to learn more? Want to be on the list or encourage your legal counsel to work to be on it? Are you already doing this kind of work and appreciate the benefit of a community of like-minded professionals? Quick in the moment post to note the glorious shout-out #Philly got at this morning’s #placemakingweek opening plenary. Philadelphia was celebrated as a model and a case study for “building better” — how real estate can show up differently and truly advance inclusive, co-created thriving neighborhoods. And some of my favorites, Shift Capital and Mosaic Development Partners JV, got special mention in that context! It was also mentioned that Philadelphia is “working through its woundedness” by better connecting people across neighborhoods in a deeper, more advanced way than some other cities. What do my Philly friends think?More later on this convening.

There are alternatives.Companies can be run in more equitable, power-sharing ways. Companies can be run in more purpose-driven, mission-locked ways. Companies can aspire to higher standards of inclusion and care for people, place, and planet. Want to understand how? Join us on June 25th for a discussion among an exceptional group of corporate practitioners about governance models in North America. Gratitude to Amy (Wojnarwsky) Willey for organizing and moderating! And relatedly, if you're interested in various frameworks for social enterprises more broadly, check out Dana Brakman Reiser's article on the topic (link in comments) of the recently published book Trust and Scale in Global Social Enterprise Law, which she previewed on a panel at this week's 2024 Annual Conference on Legal Issues in Social Entrepreneurship and Impact Investing in the US and Beyond, held at NYU's Grunin Center at its Law School. Lots of fellow Global Alliance of Impact Lawyers (GAIL) colleagues populated the audience and speaker cohort there.#socialenterprise#bcorps#publicbenefit#cooperatives#alternativeownership#impactinvesting#socialimpactImpact Entrepreneur ImpactAlpha ImpactPHL Impact Investing Institute Women in Social Finance Women Moving Millions How Women Invest 100 Women In Finance Women Investing for a Sustainable Economy (WISE)
