1.Rebecca Ferguson opened up about how she was able to find her voice as an actor after being bullied by an “absolute idiot of a costar” during a previous movie. “I remember there was a moment and this human being was being so insecure and angry because this person couldn’t get the scenes out,” she said on the Reign With Josh Smith podcast. “I think I was so vulnerable and uncomfortable that I got screamed at. But because this person was number one on a call sheet, there was no safety net for me. So, no one had my back. And I would cry walking off set.”
2.Sarah Wayne Callies revealed that while she was starring on Prison Break, one of her male costars spat in her face. “I mean, like, I’ve had an actor on that show spit in my face. And I was like, ‘Holy sh*t,'” she said on the Broad Ideas podcast, adding that she might talk more about the incident in the future. "We will talk about it someday. But there were… There were things. Like, I would go home some nights and have to spend an hour talking my husband out of going to hospitalize somebody.”
3.Chloë Grace Moretz told Variety that when she was 15 years old, she was once body-shamed by an unnamed costar on set. "This guy that was my love interest was like, 'I’d never date you in a real life,' and I was like, 'What?' And he was like, 'Yeah, you’re too big for me' — as in my size." She didn't reveal who the costar was but said he was "22, 23, 24" at the time. "I had to pick it up and go back on set and pretend he was a love interest, and it was really hard… It just makes you realize that there are some really bad people out there, and for some reason, he felt the need to say that to me. You have to kind of forgive and not forget really, but it was just like wow. It was jarring. I look back on it, and I was 15, which is really, really dark."
4.Rebel Wilson opened up to People about the time a costar "called [her] into a room and pulled down his pants." She explained that the actor then asked her to perform a lewd act. "It was awful and disgusting," she continued. "And all the behavior afterwards — this was all before #MeToo — where they kind of tried to destroy me and my career. If it had happened after #MeToo, then I could have just blasted them." At the time, she felt like she had to stay and finish the movie despite the incident. She said, "I should have left. It wasn't worth it. But at the same time, I was like, 'Oh well, do the right thing, be a professional, and finish the movie.' Now I would never do that." She added that after complaining to her agency and the studio she found out she was the fourth person to file a complaint against this actor.
5.Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson shared some not-so-kind words about his male costars in Fast 8. In a now-deleted Instagram, he said, “There’s no other franchise that gets my blood boiling more than this one. My female costars are always amazing and I love ’em. My male costars, however, are a different story. Some conduct themselves as stand-up men and true professionals, while others don’t. The ones that don’t are too chicken sh*t to do anything about it anyway. Candy asses.” And while he never named names, he did say, “When you watch this movie next April and it seems like I’m not acting in some of these scenes and my blood is legit boiling – you’re right."
6.Lili Reinhart opened up about being sexually harassed by a former costar and described the experience as a "scene right out of a horror movie." "I feel the need to share a story of my own personal experience where a man in a position of power over me, used that said power to try and take advantage of me," Lili wrote in a Tumblr post. "I was a teenager working on a project when I started to have a crush on a guy I was working with. He was incredibly charming and charismatic - we flirted for a while before we went on our first date. He was pretty significantly older than me, but I thought of myself as mature so it didn’t seem like a big deal." She explained that the costar tried to force himself on her during their date and she stopped him.
7.Chrishell Stause once called out a Selling Sunset costar for being "fake." On Instagram, Chrishell wrote, "The thirst for camera time on season 6 is REAL. Wow. That was insanity. But also SO transparent. Get your 15 mins girl but leave my business out of it." In another post, she wrote, "Screenshots have been archived for this very moment. Of COURSE you have a huge issue with me now-not before-when you have a camera crew around you. I hate fake 💩. If you want camera time-JUST SAY THAT. I would have helped you get the right angle."
8.Jana Kramer once said that "one person literally made it hell" on set for the cast of One Tree Hill. "But now, I mean, everyone is really close, and it's kind of frustrating because I'm like, 'Why couldn't we have all be friends then?'" she said on her podcast Whine Down. "'And you made the newbies' life a little bit of hell.' But it's cool." She continued to explain that the tension between castmates has subsided and said, "But now it's like, annoying because they're all like, 'We're all friends now,' and I'm just like, 'You, one person, literally made it hell for us, because if we chose the wrong friend, we would be destroyed.'"
9.Geraldo Rivera revealed that a "toxic relationship" with a castmate was the reason he was fired from the news program The Five. "I had a very toxic relationship with another of the cast members,” he explained in an episode of The View. “So I got a call from two of the female executives, and they said, ‘You’re off The Five, but there are plenty of other things you could do.’ I had a year and a half left on my contract, and I said, ‘Well, stop it. If you fired me from the No.1 show, then I’m going to quit.’ And that’s basically what happened," he explained.
10.Jay Mohr explained a time when he worked on a movie and his female costar was "unhappy with [his] presence" and "made it clear from day one." "I hadn't done many movies, and even though they screen-tested some pretty famous guys, I somehow snaked into the leading role," he told Elle. "The actress said, 'No way! You've got to be kidding me!' Loudly. Between takes. To other actors on set. I would literally go to my mom's house and cry."
11.Finally, Melissa McCarthy opened up about a time when she worked with someone so toxic that it made her "physically ill." "I did work for someone once who ran such a volatile, hostile set that it made me physically ill," she told Vanity Fair. "My eyes were swelling up; I was absorbing all of this nuttiness." She said that she wasn't the only person on set who felt that way, saying, “There were people weeping, visibly so upset by this one person. And I think that manipulation worked because to get to me, this person would fire people I loved, which kept me quiet. It was very effective. One day, I was like, ‘It stops today!' I just kept saying to them, it stops, it stops. And I know now I’ll never keep quiet again.”
